Projects earning SSc2 are allowed to count pedestrian-oriented hardscapes and vegetated roofs toward their open space requirements.
Previously developed projects earning SSc5.2, should consider providing native and adapted vegetation for their open space, in compliance with SSc5.1.
Projects should consider planting only native or adapted plants; doing so can help out with the achievement of WEc1.
Minimizing the development footprint and increasing green space will also contribute to stormwater quantity management.

Minimizing the building footprint through the use of stacked parking will contribute to SSc5.2 by allowing more open space, while also reducing the urban heat island effect.
For projects that also earn SSc2, providing a vegetated roof will contribute to SSc5.2.
