The integrative design process should also address fire & electrical safety. Codes and standards do address safety but they are based on experience with traditional buildings and hence might not cover the innovative solutions needed to achieve LEED credits. Adding fire & electrical safety to the integrative design process would ensure that the design team are aware of and can mitigate any solutions that compromise the safety of occupants and first responders.
