Using your LEED Certification to Achieve Fitwel Strategies

As our collective attention turns towards creating healthy spaces, many building owners are looking to programs that can complement their existing LEED certifications. Enter Fitwel, a certification system created jointly by the Centers for Disease Control, the U.S. General Services Administration, and the Center for Active Design in 2017.

Fitwel aims to make healthy building strategies accessible across building types, locations, and budgets. It has three tiers of certification (1, 2 or 3 Stars) and works much like LEED: the more healthy strategies your project employs, the more points you earn, and the more Stars you achieve. Fitwel offers Design Certification (for projects currently in the design phase or under construction) or Built Certification (for projects in the post-occupancy phase).
