As I am sure many users have experienced with projects on extended time tables, projects have started using earlier beta versions of the LEED submittals which is the point to my question.  We are currently working on a project which began using the version 2 forms.  As the project stretched on, various team members upgraded some of the forms to both version 3 and 4.

We are contemplating the move to take the project and request usgbc roll all forms to version 3.  My question would be will there be a loss of data in the process?  We are aware that version 2 forms will need filled out in the new version 3 templates.  However, my question pertains to the forms that have already been filled out in version 3 that are a part of the project.  Will those remaining forms automatically relink themselves to the forms we have upgraded from version 2 to version 3.  Or will we need to request the entire project all be rolled to version 3 and all forms be re-filled out.

Also, should we anticipate more strict or changing requirements for the submittals when upgrading to version 3.  Is it possible points will be lost in the process due to changing requirements that may hinder the decision.  From what I can tell in what other users have posted, this change is not required, but it is recommended?

Thank you in advance for your time and comments,

Dan,

I would suggest contacting GBCI directly about any potential loss of documentation. I believe some will be lost, but GBCI will be able to more specifically answer that question.

Although the base credit requirments do not change from form version to form version, there are different documentation requirements for each version. Some make it simpler and easier while others add documentation requirments. The only way I know of to determine the benefit (or not) of upgrading is to look through the form versions.

I will caution you that many beta forms have glitches and that even when you don't upgrade the forms you may be asked for documentation that is required on later versions.

You are correct, it is not required to upgrade your forms.
