leedonline.com access - is it possible???
i would hate to choose not to pursue LEED certification because i can't access the website, but...
when you go to leedonline.com it says you have to use internet explorer, so i'm using ie and when i get to the terms and conditions page, the browser tab closes. GBCI is absolutely no help when it comes to troubleshooting their own website.
i have compatibility view set up as directed but that makes no difference. i've tried a couple computers, no change. i don't have an IT dept, this is a small practice. i wonder how many architects have given up on LEED simply because they couldn't access leedonline.com?
has anyone run into this problem? is there something else i need to download / configure?

LEED Online Issues
Hello,
I read all the treads below and also followed the system requirement guidelines at LEED online.com. However my LEED online webpage on IE8 goes offline every now and then- "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". I am sure my internet connection is very strong as other tabs on IE8 and Google Chrome work simultaneously and absolutely fine . I tried closing all the applications and using only LEED online on IE8. But no use. So I guess it must be the problem with LEED online only. It is really annoying. I had called GBCI customer service and I was told to give the feedback to their IT department. Has anyone facing the similar problem? Did you find any solution?
Sounds like you have a bad form. Since they are doing maintenance this weekend, try again on Monday and then request that the form be replaced.
LEED online access and compatability
Hello,
We are currently working on two LEED projects utilizing the Safari platform. Recently, I had trouble with uploads on NC 2009 SSc5.2 (v03). They would upload, but then the credit template would not indicate the correct number of uploads in the correct sections. None of the other credit pages are problematic (for either project). The GBCI technical team suggest it is a compatibility issue and recommended switching to Internet Explorer.
Does this seem accurate, given the fact that it is only this one template which is a problem and we have had previous successful navigation with our existing system and the LEED processes ? Could it also be a problem with the linked upload?
Thank you for any insights.
Best,
Sherri
LEED-Online Access
Hi John,
You are correct that the latest version of LEED-Online does require you to use Internet Explorer. I'm a bit confused when you say "the browser tab closes." It is possible you need to allow pop-ups from LEED-Online, so it is able to open things in a new tab or window when you click on them.
Also, I believe that you must use an up-to-date version of Adobe PDF Reader to view some pages on the LEED-Online website. This could mean you need to update your Adobe software and/or make sure Adobe is set to be the default PDF viewer/reader within Internet Explorer.
I have found GBCI's customer service to be very helpful in the past. Perhaps if none of these options work you could try contacting them by phone.
Hope this helps!
I would agree that the GBCI's phone desk group is very helpful. I have called them a number of times and they have been very patient. I had a similar problem a while back and had to add LEED Online to my 'Compatability View' under 'Tools'. Having it added to the server wasn't enough. Emily's comment about the pop ups is also valid. I haven't had a problem since then. Good luck.
thanks for the replies, after several grueling hours, i've finally gotten this to work. here's the summary in case anyone has this issue in the future:
here's what i started with on my machine:
-internet explorer 8
-adobe acrobat 7
-adobe reader X (aka adobe reader 10)
here's what i had to do:
1. uninstall adobe reader X (even though it's the newest version, it doesn't always work)
2. download and install adobe reader 9.1 from leedonline.com (not from adobe's website)
3. follow leedonline.com's installation instructions (not adobe's)
4. in reader: change java & internet settings as shown on leedonline.com's system requirements page
5. in internet explorer: activate "compatibility view" and in manage add-ons "enable" adobe pdf.
6. UNINSTALL ACROBAT 7 (acrobat 7 will not allow reader to be the default pdf program for some weird reason)
and that's it. whew.
the "terms and conditions" page is the first page that displays a PDF, that's why the browser crashed there.
it's working now but hopefully GBCI can make this website a little easier to access in the future. new users shouldn't have to lose half a day right up front.
