This is my first LEED project and I had some questions on the owner signatories.  Can the architect initial for the owner?  If not, then I assume that the owner needs to be listed as one of the team members to have access to the forms?  Do they also have to be a USGBC member then as well?

Team Members Blocked from accessing the Project

Hi, I'm not sure if this is the place for this post but I can't find a more relevant one. Two team members who had registered with LEED online, found they were blocked when trying to access the project - first told their passwords were invalid and then blocked out completely (if it were just one of them I would suspect they forgot the correct password). So what I tried to do was to deactivate the team member then reinvite them, but the system won't let me reinvite a deactivated member. Has anyone come across this before? Any help or guidance would be appreciated.

Yes, it has happened to me. Call the GBCI and have them clear the invitations. Then reinvite the team members.

Mairead,

Susan is right, you need to contact GBCI.

But I wanted to offer one other potential reason for this. I have found that some people have more than one GBCI account, attached to different email addresses. So when you send them an invite GBCI links it to that email and they may be trying to login with thier other email (or password). GBCI can combine accounts for people, FYI, so this is also fixable through GBCI.

Emily/Susan, many thanks for your help. I'll contact GBCI and have it sorted.

LEED for Schools, or LEED NC ?

Hello,

I was wondering if I could get your opinion on which LEED Scheme I should use.
Our client wants to entirely refurbish a school block that is 100 years old. Windows, HVAC systems, flooring and other items will be amended. In addition the client would like to add to the existing block a new part that will constitute approx one third of the total block. The block will serve as classrooms and a learning center for grades 7, 8 and 9.

Which LEED scheme should I use, knowing that 2/3 of the block will be refurbished and 1/3 of the block will be completely new. Is it LEED for schools for the whole building?

Thanks for your help,

owner signatory

No, the architect cannot initial for the owner, so the owner does need to be a member of the LEED Online project team. There is no fee associated with adding members like this to the team, and no one, including the owner, has to be a USGBC member.

Does this help?

When I went to add my client as a member in the project team, it says that since they aren't listed as a USGBC member then they can join the project via Access ID. I assume this is what they will need to do then?

They basically need to get an invitation to join the project. You can do this through your team administration function in LEED Online.

I hope I'm remembering that right... not looking at it at this moment.

Yes, that is exactly where I went. I think I should be all set now. Thanks!

Kristin, in order for your client to be registered in your project team, the client must first registered in LEED online, you can do this by going to the LOv3 Help and go to the content ,follow by the 'Navigating project in LOv3', click `next projects and team management ` and click to the `Project team administration` under this link you will see 4 options

1) join a project 2) invite team members 3) Change project administrator 4) Project roles and authorization level ...

click 'join project' and another 4 link options will appear.. as you mentioned before your client aren't listed in USGBC therefore choose ' without LEED Online account' , if you look at your right side you will see the section of site user registration form sample, click a link of 'Create a LOv3 User account' , this will direct you to the form your client needed to be filled in order for them to be listed in the USGBC.
At one point they will ask you wether you have the project access ID,checked the box and write your project access ID number.
I guess thats all for the steps..Good luck!
