VOC fin pre-oiled wooden
Hi Tristan, and every one else,
I need a specialist’s advice for these products. I’m doing a LEED project in Quebec, Val-David, in which we would install pre-oiled wooden floor (Plancher pré-Huilé). The wood is to be oiled and dried (naturally 24 hours) in the shop of the supplier.
Can this product be accepted in a LEED project given the previous information?
To be LEED proof:
Varnish: equal or less than 250g/L
Stain (teinture): equal or less than 175g/L
Oil: There’s no specs in my LEED reference guide
So I'm lost...

shop-applied finishes are not covered by LEED
Good news, Simon. Since the finish you're using is to be "shop-applied," or oiled off-site, it is not subject to the LEED IEQc4.2 requirements.
If you were applying this finish on the project site, I would have to review it more carefully but in this case, you're fine.
Tristan, where can I see proof that shop-applied finish is not subject to the LEED IEQc4.2 requirements.
I have professionals on the project that need to see it.
I've sent them something I've found in my september 2007 refenrence guide addenda (p150)
Simon, the IEQc4.2 credit language stipulates that it applies to all finishes and coatings "applied on-site."

If you're not a LEEDuser paid member, you can view this language in the LEED Reference Guide.
